Home Agenda FAQ More info Apply Impressions Home Agenda FAQ More info Apply Impressions Apply Terms and conditions for participating in the "Multiple sclerosis - our common challenge" challenge known as Hackathon between Roche and the Participants Roche, d.o.o., Stegne 13G, 1000 Ljubljana, identification number: 1957023000, “Organizer” and Transformation Lighthouse d.o.o., registration number 6207359000, “Facilitator” is pleased to organize an Multiple sclerosis our common challenge (“Hackathon”), which will be held on 04 and 05 October 2024 in Ajdovscina. The Hackathon is governed by the rules set out below (“Hackathon rules”). By entering the Hackathon, the undersigned (“Participant” or “you”) agree to abide by the Hackathon Rules as well as the decision of Organizer, Facilitator and Hackathon judges. 1. Overview: Hackathon brings together dozens of entrepreneurs, business professionals, engineers, designers and other individuals to compete by solving actual business cases in diverse teams of 2 - 6 people, generating new business ideas and being involved in a 2-day innovation marathon. Hackathon will be held on 04 and 05 October 2024, live and online using virtual tools for which participants will get instructions after confirming the agreement. 2. Registration and Organization: Because Hackathon is an international competition and requires detailed organization, you are asked to ensure the seriousness of your participation. 3. To take part in the Hackathon, it is necessary to register and fill the application form that is visible to you below after you confirm that you agree with the conditions of participation. Incomplete application forms and/or that contain untrue information determine the expulsion of the team from the Hackathon. Registration doesn’t constitute itself a confirmation of participation at Hackathon. Participants will receive an e-mail with notice of acceptance by: 1st of October 2024. Participants will be chosen by the Organizer and Facilitator based on materials submitted via an application form and based on the Criteria set out by the Organizer and Facilitator. The decision of the Organizer and Facilitator is final and may not be subject to complaint. The number of chosen Participants is left to the discretion of the Organizer and Facilitator. 4. Entry: The Hackathon requires teams consisting of individuals aged above 18 to create an innovative, demonstrative solution that solves an actual technical-business case and garners the most points at the end of the Hackathon ("Entry"). All Entries must meet the following general conditions: (i) The language used in Entries must be the English Language. (ii) A team may only submit one Entry. Incomplete Entries may be disqualified. (iii) Each Entry must be original, of the Participant's or Participant's teams own creation and newly written during the Hackathon and must not have been entered in any other competition similar to the Hackathon. Organizer and Facilitator reserve the right to disqualify any Entry if the Entry or a Participant or a Participant's team does not comply with these Hackathon Rules. Each team is multidisciplinary and composed of different profiles and backgrounds. Based on the applications, the Organizer will select the Participants and assemble the teams. If the Participant has a preference on who he/she wants to be in the team, he/she has to inform Organizer and Facilitator via on-line application (field: Team members) that he/she is applying as a part of the team and who are the team members. However, each member of the team must register individually and accept these Terms and conditions individually. Due to a large number of individuals who apply, each team must be prepared to accept some additional members that the Organizer and Facilitator might assign to the team. Teams will consist of 4-6 team members. Number of team members may vary between teams at the end. Composition of teams and number of team members are left to the discretion of the Organizer and Facilitator. Preliminary composition of teams may be subject to change. Final composition of teams will be determined by the Organizer three days before the Hackathon, 1st of October 2024. The Organizer of the Hackathon will provide to all Participants access to all communication tools necessary. Each participant will use its own PC/device for the development and design of the solution. 5. Scoring of Entries: The winning team will be chosen by the panel of judges with relevant expertise, members of Organizer and external parties ("Judges"). What is needed to register? • You are highly motivated and have the ability to think out of the box when it comes to smart and innovative outstanding solutions • You are an expert that likes to work in multidisciplinary teams and as a result you come up with ideas that include technology, user design thinking and financing aspects • You just adore a good challenge. The Entries will be judged according to the following criteria: (i) Stage of innovativeness of the solutions, (ii) Depth and breadth of addressing issues, (iii) Mock up stage; (iv) Main case preparation and business plan, (v) Final pitch, (vi) Individuals in team work. The Entry that earns the highest overall score will win. The decisions of the Judges will be final and may not be subject to complaint. In the event of a tie, Judges will deliberate to determine the winner. The judging period may be extended by the Organizer for any length of time, at the Organizer's discretion. 6. Winners and Awards: The final pitching for all teams will be held on 05 October 2024, the last day of the Hackathon, where teams will have a chance to pitch in front of a jury consisting of field experts, representatives of Roche and Transformation Lighthouse. The 3 winning teams awarded the highest score by the judges will be announced in person at the conclusion of the event. In case of a larger number of teams, the pitches will have to be submitted in a form of 3min video. The participants will compete for the following prizes: • The 1st place winner will receive 3.000 EUR neto • The 2nd place winner will receive 2.400,00 EUR neto • The 3nd place winner will receive 1.500,00 EUR neto 7. Copyrights and other Intellectual Property rights of Entries: Participant represents and warrants that the Entry is and will be Participant's own original work and does not and will not infringe the intellectual property or proprietary rights of any third party, including, without limitation, any third-party patents, copyrights or trademarks. All moral rights to the Entry remain with the Participant. Participant hereby exclusively assigns and transfers and agrees to assign and transfer to the Organizer all economic right, title, and interest in and to Participant's Entry and consequently Organizer will have all economic rights to reproduce, distribute, rent, copy, edit, publicly display, publicly perform, broadcast, publish and use, in whole or in part, any Entry, in any manner without further compensation during and after the Hackathon. The Participant agrees to assign and transfer rights from this paragraph to Organizer exclusively. Assignment and transfer of rights from this Article shall not be limited in territory and shall be unlimited in time. Each Participant acknowledges and agrees that other Participants or third parties may have developed or commissioned works which are similar to the Entry of Participant or Participant's team, or may develop something similar in the future, and each Participant waives any claims that Participant may have resulting from any similarities to the Entry of Participant or Participant's team. 8. Consent to use of personal data, privacy notice and publicity: By participating in the Hackathon, Participant consents to the use of his/her name, photo and/or likeness, entry and statements attributed to Participant (if true) for the purpose of promoting and advertising Hackathon, including without limitation, inclusion in Organizer's and Facilitators newsletters, websites www.roche.si and www.transformation-lighthouse.com and any of the Organizer’s and Facilitators and/or social media accounts or outlets without compensation. Participant authorizes the Organizer and Facilitator to treat and use his/her personal data according to terms and purposes mentioned above, and to use his/her pictures in the websites stated in the previous paragraph. Participant authorizes the Organizer and Facilitator to conserve all videos and pictures in the digital archives for a period of maximum 5 years from the date of entering into this Participation Agreement. Participant authorizes the Organizer and Facilitator to modify - but not significantly alter - pictures of him/her for the purposes stipulated above. Participant relieves the Organizer and Facilitator of any direct and indirect responsibility that would come from possible spread, reproduction or use - as stipulated in this Article - of his/her personal data. Participant expressly gives up any right, action or pretence - even economic - related to the use and/or spread of his/her personal data, in addition to any action and/or claim of damages or losses Participant would suffer as a consequence of their possible spread, use or reproduction. 9. Disclaimers, liability and indemnification: Organizer and Facilitator do not accept liability for any loss or damage or for any other loss or damage resulting directly or indirectly from your participation in the Hackathon or your receipt, use or redemption of any awards, or your inability to receive, use or redeem any awards. Furthermore, Organizer and Facilitator are not responsible for: (1) technical failures of any kind, including the malfunctioning of any telephone, computer, network, hardware or software; (2) the unavailability or inaccessibility of any service; (3) electronic or human error which may occur in the administration of the Hackathon; or (4) any injury or damage to persons or property, including your computer, which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from your participation in the Hackathon. Organizer and Facilitator do not accept liability for any loss or damage or for any other loss or damage that may result from unsuccessful application to the Hackathon towards individuals that have registered for the Hackathon but have not been chosen to participate in the Hackathon. You hereby release and agree to indemnify and hold harmless Organizer and Facilitator from any and all damages, injuries, claims, causes of actions, liability or losses of any kind, known or unknown, absolute or contingent, now or in the future arising from or related to: (1) your failure to comply with any of the Hackathon Rules; (2) any misrepresentation you make under the Hackathon Rules; or (3) your participation in the Hackathon. 10. General: Organizer and Facilitator reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to cancel, modify or suspend the Hackathon in whole or in part, in the event of fraud, technical or other difficulties or if the integrity of the Hackathon is compromised, without liability to the Participants. Organizer and Facilitator reserve the right to disqualify any Participant, as determined by Organizer and Facilitator, who violates the Hackathon Rules or who they believe is cheating or is threatening, harassing any other team, team member or Organizer’s or Facilitator’s personnel. If any provisions of this Participation Agreement shall become illegal, invalid or unenforceable in any respect, the validity, legality and enforceability of the remaining provisions shall not in any way be impaired. This Participation Agreement is governed by the laws of Slovenia and will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of Slovenian courts.
